This policy explains what information ZeitVox ("ZeitVox", "we", "us") collects when you use the ZeitVox app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using ZeitVox, you agree to the practices described here.
Information you provide

Account information — your email address and profile details when you create an account.

Sign-in data — if you use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google, we receive a unique identifier and the name/email you choose to share.

Voice recordings ("clips") — audio you record within the app.

Profile images — if you upload a photo, it is scanned for policy violations before it is stored (see "Image moderation" below).
Information collected automatically

City-level location — used to tag each clip with the city it was recorded in. We do not store precise GPS coordinates alongside your clips.

Listen history and engagement — which clips you play, when, and basic interaction data, so features like your Zeitfeed work.

Device and diagnostic data — basic technical information (device type, OS version, crash logs) used to keep the app working.

Push notification tokens — used only to deliver notifications you have enabled.
Automatic transcription
When you record a clip, ZeitVox generates a text transcript of the audio so you can search your clips by what was said. Transcripts are stored alongside the clip and are treated with the same privacy protections as the recording itself.
Image moderation
Any image you upload (for example, a profile photo) is automatically screened using Google Cloud Vision's content-safety detection before it is accepted, to keep the app free of prohibited content. This screening is automated; images are not manually reviewed by us unless a user report requires it.
How we use your information

To provide core functionality — recording, transcribing, geo-tagging, and organizing your clips.

To operate your account and authenticate you via Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or email.

To send push notifications you have opted into.

To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and content that violates our Terms of Use.

To maintain and improve the reliability of the app.
How your information is stored and shared
Your account data, clips, transcripts, and images are stored using Supabase, our database and storage provider. We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers required to run the app (such as Supabase for storage, Google Cloud Vision for image moderation, and Apple/Google for sign-in), and only to the extent needed for them to perform that function, or when required by law.
Your choices

You can delete individual clips at any time from within the app.

You can disable location access in your device settings; clips will then be saved without a city tag.

You can disable push notifications in your device settings.

You can delete your account and associated data — see our Delete Your Account page.
Data retention
We keep your account data and clips for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and clips within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or security reasons.
Children's privacy
ZeitVox is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@zeitvox.app and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
